I feel like my blog is turning into a travel blog. I guess that's not a bad thing though. Unfortunately, this is my last travel post for probably a pretty long time. I have had the time of my life being quite a little traveler this summer but now it's time for my next adventure. This weekend I'm packing up and moving to Provo. So here's to my last trip of the summer!
My dad has been going to to Notre Dame to get a masters in non-profit administration (yeah, he's pretty amazing) and this was his last summer to spend on campus! So, my mom and I decided we better go stay with him. Here's what went down. Condensed, of course. Your welcome.
Friday- drove to Vegas, flew to Chicago.
Saturday- spent the day in Shipshewana (and Amish town) shopping, eating the worlds best peanut butter, and being really really tired. Every night when we got to our hotel we watched to Olympics--what an amazing year!!
Sunday- went to church in South Bend and had dinner with a family who lives there then walked down the East Race River and around downtown
Monday- checked out another Amish Town, picked fresh blueberries at a farm, toured the Oliver Mansion, and ate dinner at the famous Notre Dame cafeteria
Tuesday- drove to Cincinnati and shopped our hearts out
Wednesday- Went to King's Island Amusement Park!!
Thursday- spent the day at Grand Haven, Michigan, a cute little beach town where a huge coast guard festival and carnival were going on (slept in the Parish)
Friday- said goodbye to Notre Dame and drove to Chicago where we went to the top of Sears Tower
Saturday- car battery died- went to the Chicago Zoo- car battery died- went to the Blue Man show (LOVED it, mind blown)- car battery died, shoe broke, walked around Chicago in pouring rain- traded in rental car. Haha it was a long day with our stupid car but we did pretty good to laugh it off and still made the most of our day.
Sunday- Spent the day at the Navy Pier where we went on a boat tour and saw Cirque Shanghai, a crazy good acrobatic show, then went to Wrigley Field before heading to the airport for a verrrrrrry long night.
Monday- got home at 4 a.m. I have no recollection of the flight until waking up at home Monday morning thanks to the sleeping pills I took. They work wonders. Ready or not here comes a picture overload!
Shipshewana.
Who needs a car when you can drive a horse and buggy?
Downtown South Bend
Touchdown Jesus
I'm definitely going to have a hard time ever buying blueberries in the store again.
We spent lots of time walking around the beautiful Notre Dame campus. I'm so proud of my dad!
Soak City at King's Island
How cool is this? King's Island was right in the middle of basically a forest. I've never seen so many trees in my life.
We did a TON of walking in Grand Haven, but seeing this lighthouse was definitely worth it! Even if there were gravestones on the peer warning people it's totally not safe and people die there all the time..
I made some new friends from Ireland while waiting to go to the top of Sears Tower. When I asked them what they've been doing in America they told me not much then they added.. well besides drinking beer. Hahahah, that's good.
The view of Chicago from the tallest building in the country!
The Blue Man Group rocked my world.
My parents anniversary fell on the fated day of our car's demise. Like I said, though, it was still definitely a great day.
Chicago from our tour on Anita Dee
How amazing is this?? We decided to go to this show when someone gave us their extra ticket so we only had to buy two. As an anniversary present, I took one for the team and sat in the loner seat. Well, the family I happened to sit by had an eligible bachelor (who was 30 ha!) and decided I was the perfect blind date for him. It was a little awkward to say the least. But the show was amazing!!
The midwest treated me well. Now it's time to pack my bags for good!
