babymoon

When I heard about a friend going on a babymoon shortly after I found out I was pregnant, I was instantly sold. When I told Ben I'm pretty sure he thought I was crazy and made up the whole thing! :) I only wish I could take credit for this genius idea!

Everyone knows what a honeymoon is and basically every newlywed couple goes on one. I think most people even look forward to them :) So why not go on a babymoon?! Basically a babymoon is a little get away for expecting parents before their baby comes, particularly their first baby. Because if you think about it, they probably aren't going to get a lot of alone time once their babe arrives, especially not for getaways! And who doesn't love a good reason to go on a little vacation anyway? I know I do! :)

Once Ben was convinced of this, he obliged, and we began planning our little trip! We kept putting it off and putting it off because, well, life is crazy! When we finally decided to just go ahead and book something we knew we wanted to spend as little money as possible so we decided to go to Vegas during the week. You can stay at nearly any hotel in Vegas on a weekday for cheap! Score. We booked our trip and started planning! However, life kept getting in the way, and we had to keep rescheduling and changing our booking. Our weekend trip that had turned into a middle of the week trip eventually turned into a Tuesday trip, haha :) 

When that Tuesday finally rolled around I had come down with a terrible cold and was sick as a dog. Of course. But we knew if we didn't go that day that it would never happen so I packed my cough drops and nasal spray and we hit the road! So romantic ;) Our drive to Vegas is only about 2 hours but on the way down my cold was really getting to me and I was so tempted to just turn around and forget the whole thing. But I am so glad that we didn't!! When we got to the hotel, the MGM Grand, and checked in, I felt a million times better because I was SO excited. I am a sucker for a vacation!! I was day dreaming about their 6 acre pool before we even had our room key. Graciously, they let us check in early and we were on our way to the pool in no time. We headed for the lazy river and when we got there we realized you had to pay $16 to rent a tube! HA! So we swam around the river and enjoyed it just as much ;) After a couple hours at the pool we went back to our room, got ready, and headed to Ceasar's Palace for dinner. Let's be honest you can't take a trip to Vegas and not eat at the Cheesecake Factory. We got a little lost trying to get out of the parking garage and ended up somehow at the employee parking area/entrance hahah. When we finally got into the building,  we had a delicious dinner there and bought cheesecake to go :) After dinner we wandered the Forum Shops for a while and I'm pretty sure I was having Braxton Hicks contractions the whole time hahah. It was still fun to look at the ridiculously priced things and pretend we could actually afford them :) By the time we got back to our hotel we were exhausted! We ate our cheesecake, watched Shark Tank, and quickly fell asleep. This was all around 10 o clock haha, we're real party animals :) The next morning we wandered down to the food court (yes there was a food court INSIDE our hotel!) and got McDonalds for breakfast :) I even won a free McGriddle so our day was off to a good start. We made our way back to our room to get ready and decided just to check out a little early. Random side note, our hotel was huge and so much fun just to wander through! If you could get past the smell of the smoke (got to love casinos) there was a lot of good people watching :) Anyway, we checked out and wandered the strip to look at baby stuff in Ross and TJ Maxx. After that we headed home! It was definitely a quick trip but we both agreed that it was much needed! It was so nice to get away, even for 24 hours, and just have fun together. Now we can't wait for our baby girl to get here!! We're ready to have her along for the ride on all of our crazy adventures :)
