I love to see the temple

Yesterday I got to do something very hard and very worthwhile and although I can barely walk today, I am more than grateful for it. I walked almost 14 miles to the St. George Temple. It was one of the best experiences I've had.
My young women, leaders, bishopric, and a few other members of our ward met at our church house at 7 yesterday morning in the freezing cold and set off for the beginning of a very long day. There were about 50 of us altogether; it was amazing to see how close our ward family is and that we were all willing to come together and support each other on this walk. I can imagine, though, that it was pretty funny to see us all walking down the street, one elderly lady even stopped to take pictures of us:) Why did we do this? We've been focusing on the temple all year and since our theme is the 13th article of faith, it was the obvious thing to do. Or at least that's what our leaders thought. We were all a little apprehensive when they first told us their plan, but as we trained together we became more confident and knew we would be able to do it together. Yesterday was the moment of truth, our actual walk. And, we succeeded! Making it to the temple 5 hours later and having all of our families there welcoming us and cheering us on was probably the best feeling I've ever experienced.
Throughout our walk we had a couple activities, but there was one that really stood out to me. We walked a mile in silence and thought of the people in our lives encouraging us to make it to the temple. I realized how blessed I am as I thought of the countless people in my life who have and still are helping me make good decisions so I will be ready to enter the temple. During this mile of silence, we were walking at the top of Sunbrook. It was a crisp morning and we could see the whole town below us. As I thought of the people I love, the temple, and looked at the beautiful city I live in I felt amazing. It was one of those moments where you know everything is going to be okay and you love everything about your life. I know I'll never forget this experience and honestly can not wait until the day I enter the temple.
I am so blessed!

That is so cool Kay! Our bishop actually challenged all the YW to prepare to walk to the temple a few weeks ago. So our ward will be following in your footsteps soon.

I'm so impressed by you. I was seriously getting a little teary while I read this. You are such a good person, and I'm so proud of all you do.

I hope I am one of the people who you consider are encouraging you to go to the temple. I can't wait until we can all be there together.

Love you, girl.
