October is very possibly my favorite month of the whole entire year. There is just something about this month that makes it almsot impossible for me to be in a bad mood. The air is cool and crisp, Halloween decorations and activities are everywhere, and Thanksgiving/Christmas are right around the corner. How can you not love a month like that? I always knew it was pretty great, but now that I live in Utah county and we actually have leaves that change I am absolutely in love. Here are a few of my favorite things to do in October that unfortunately were neglected and didn't receive their own posts..
Sleepovers with your best friend are always a good idea. Matching nighties are a must. Tay and I love John Cusack movies so our sleepovers usually include those too.Haunted Houses are a must in October. We got real brave this year and hit a Haunted Forest as well. Captain Jack Sparrow was randomly one of the characters and followed us through the maze which was probably the best part. We rewarded ourselves for surviving with ice cream at our aparment and talked each others ears off about how scary/awesome it was.
I can't tell a lie, I'm not a big fan of football games. I know, I should be shunned or something. This game was actually really fun though! A whole bunch of our high school buds were there and we just had a grand ol' time together-- despite the fact that my roommates and I were freezing to death. BYU came through for us and beat the Aggies though so it was worth it.
Ken and Graces family came down for General Conference. I got to spend the day with them in Syracuse Saturday playing with the kids, picking apples, and going to the park! Dad got us 10 conference tickets even though Grace, Hailey, and I were the only ones going so I got to bring all of my friends. Conference was so good. I just might be going on a mission when I get home from London, we'll see what He has in store for me.
Luckily my best friends love October just as much as I do. The other night we made warm vanilla and chocolate zucchini bread, lit a pumpkin spice candle, and watched Halloweentown. The next day we had a picnic in Provo Canyon. We know how to do October right.
After conference we walked around Temple Square for a while. and tried to get in one of the Ensign pictures. Keep your eyes peeled when you read next month's edition.
Tuesday, they lit the Y for Homecoming. I was in class when they lit it, but I hiked it with Jordan, Scott, and Tayler later that night. The hike was a little brutal, but sitting on the lit Y overlooking Utah Valley was SO worth it. I didn't want to leave and have wanted to go back every night since.
And of course October wouldn't be complete without a good girls night watching scary movies and eating treats.
I hope all of you are enjoying October as much as I am. Happy Haunting!
