Doing December Right

The past four days of my life have been so festive I can't even handle it.
On Friday I spent my evening at the Festival of Trees with T and Jules. In case you were wondering, it's like the Jubilee of Trees but 100 times bigger. They didn't have any food though, and we were all starving, so we agreed the Jubilee of Trees is still better. I think the trees are better at the Jubilee too, I didn't know what was going on with most of the trees here. Anyway, it was great and as soon as we made it through the trees and gingerbread houses we headed to Los Cucos for dinner. The night wasn't over yet, though. When we got back to Provo we swung by the Creamery and ate it while we watched Elf (or ate it and slept through Elf in my case, what a cotton headed ninny muggins).

Saturday, I volunteered at a nursing home. I got to paint the ladies nails and hear all of their stories. It was pretty humbling to find out they had Parkinsons, Polio, and every other disease you can imagine and were still so happy and grateful. I definitely had a priority check.
We also got to watch a professional caroling group who came to the nursing home that day (costumes and all). I think I loved it more than the residents.
That night, my roommates and I took a spontaneous trip to Spanish Fork. We went to the Festival of Lights, Cold Stone, and saw the movie Perks of Being a Wallflower. If you haven't seen it, see it. If you have, see it again. It's safe to say at least me and Julia were crying most of the time and we all loved it. If you do go, though, try not to go to the Spanish Fork $3 theater and get there an hour and a half early, unless you really enjoy flying statues of children, fantasyland murals, and obnoxious pre-teens, then by all means spend your night in the Spanish Fork Theater.
Sunday was just one of those really good Sundays, you know the ones? I always love testimony meeting when my stomach decides not to hate me and growl like a beast. I especially love church in December when the songs and lessons are about Christmas. The Bishop also told me and my roommates that we're a solid group of girls he doesn't have to worry about, haha. After church Kade and Brayden came over for a break the fast waffle party. They stayed over for the rest of the day and we played catch phrase and card games, watched Christmas movies, spyied on our neighbors, and even had a nutritious dinner of pretzels with peanut butter and nutella. We also watched the Christmas devotional which was inspired as always.
Last night, Monday, was our ward Christmas party! We ate dinner and had a dessert competition (t, kade, and my cookies definitely won), played the Hunger Games, and sang karaoke. The bishopric singing You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch while dancing Gangnam Style was my favorite part.

The most wonderful time of the year? That's for sure.
