The past 48 hours of my life have been insane, exhausting, and pretty exciting, to say the least.
It started Thursday night when I had to say goodbye to my family and my hometown for four months. That was seriously one of the hardest things I've ever done. When I had to say goodbye to my Mom at the Las Vegas Airport I was a mess. The last thing I wanted to do was leave the country. I hopped on a plane anyway and that is exactly what I did.
2 sleeping pills, 18 hours, and 1 layover in Canada later I arrived in London, England. I barely made it through customs where I'm pretty sure they made fun of me for being American but I was out of it so I could be wrong, picked up my 100 lbs of luggage (plus an overstuffed backpack and purse), and somehow found the train. Getting off the train was a trick. They tell you to "mind the gap", a few inches separating the train from the platform, which isn't so easy with 2 ginormous suitcases, a purse, and a backpack. I'm sure I was quite the sight. Somehow, I still don't know how, I made it safely onto the platform (which was just as magical as Harry Potter for me in the moment) and got myself a taxi (taxis in London are way cuter than taxis in America).
I fell in love with the city on my drive to the London Center. Driving on the wrong side of the car on the wrong side of the road was the weirdest thing though.
When we got to the London Center I fell in love again. It's so charming. My excitement was quickly shot down when I found out I couldn't pay the taxi driver because I didn't have pounds. Good going Kayla. Luckily one of my professors was a saint and covered it for me.
Sleeping was rough. I was exhausted, but when I went to bed at 10 my body was still on St. George time thinking it was 3 in the afternoon. Hopefully that will adjust quickly!
Today was the perfect first day that I will write about later! (hopefully).
Cheers!
